The emotional core of any project is always top of my mind. If the piece warrants, I’ll start with a research deep dive—I like to know what makes things tick. But ultimately my goal is to bring out the most genuine feelings from either actors or real people. I’m convinced emotion carries most of the messaging.

I like collaboration—with crew, writers, agency and/or clients. I play well with others. I’ve co-written some of my spots and long-form web pieces and occasionally shot stills to accompany a project.

A doc I directed and produced, CaveDigger, was nominated for an Oscar. A personal project that was shot with 2- to 4-person crews sprouted serious wings. I’m currently developing a documentary on the future of work.

And there’s this: I won the New Yorker Magazine Cartoon Captioning contest. The cartoon involved a hypnotizing cat. No prize except the envy of my friends, which was pretty sweet.
